The Joy of Astrology!

The motions of the heavenly spheres have been studied by humans since we looked skyward and our journey on this planet began. Astrology is as old as humankind itself, predating modern-day science by thousands of years. Today, the field of astrology is rich, broad and deep. Thanks to the wonders of technology, the opportunity readily exists to read astrological observations from a range of cultures in order to gain a clearer picture of unfolding worldly events, or one can simply dive deeply into a specific astrological methodology and follow that for many years - or a lifetime!

Cindy has gathered together some of her favourite material and presents it here for your curiosity and enjoyment. Happy travels as you journey among the stars!

Traditional Astrology for Today

Ben Dykes, 2011, Cazimi Press, ISBN9781934586228

Dykes first studied modern astrology, so he has an understanding of both the modern and the traditional approach. He encourages readers to use basic traditional delineation methods either by themselves or as additional material in conjunction with modern methods. His use of clear and concise diagrams and specific examples is a practical and helpful inclusion and feature of this work. Dykes makes clear that traditional astrology has its focus on events rather than client potentials. This book is written in an easy-to-read conversational style which will give any astrologer a fresh look at what Traditional Astrology has to offer from writings of long ago. .

Predictive Astrology: The Eagle and the Lark

Bernadette Brady, 1992, Weiser, ISBN9781578631124

Predictive Astrology provides a comprehensive platform for exploring predictive astrological techniques in depth. Brady details the use of transits, lunation cycles and eclipses as well as a basic astrological alphabet. Her particular focus on Eclipses and their meanings adds to the insights gained from the practice and study of this subject.

The Fated Sky

Benson Bobrick, 2005, Simon & Schuster, IBSN9780743268950

Primarily, this book provides a comprehensive history of astrology from Hellenistic times to the modern day. A history which includes the great mathematicians and astronomers Copernicus, Kepler and Newton and their contribution to the understanding and use of astrology. Secondly,
it is written by a historian rather than an astrologer and takes an objective look at the origins of astrology and its impact on human events and the status of astrology in the modern world.
This book is easily read without any prior astrological knowledge.

Astrological Roots: the Hellenistic Legacy

Joseph Crane, 2007, The Wessex Astrologer, ISBN1902405242

This is one of the earlier modern texts on Hellenistic astrology. Starting at the basics, it restores concepts and techniques lost for centuries. The book lays a solid foundation of the original principles of astrology as understood in Hellenistic times, then progresses to advanced methods of delineation using clear example charts along the way.

Hellenistic Astrology: The Study of Fate and Fortune

Chris Brennan, 2017, Amor Fati, ISBN9780998588902

Brennan is one of the finest minds within the present-day astrological community. He has plumbed the depths of Hellenistic astrology and delved into the methods used from the first century BCE. His book covers the history, philosophy and techniques of ancient astrology and how those techniques still have application in the modern world.

Using Dignities in Astrology

Charles Obert, 2018, Almuten Press, ISBN9780986418716

Like the artist’s palette, the use of dignities expands the information any given planet is able to impart thereby adding another layer for interpretation. The full meaning of major essential dignities, Rulership, Exaltation, Detriment and Fall and how to use them is explained and examples are given. By combining dignities, a full description emerges as to how a particular planet will act.
